Southern Lapwing

Vanellus chilensis

Description:

A wading bid in the family Charadriiform, it is common and widespread through south and central america. It is mainly brownish gray, with a bronze glossing on the shoulders. The head is mainly grey with a black forehead and throat patch extending onto the black breast. A white border separates the black of the face from the grey of the head and crest. It feeds mainly on small invertebrates.

Marshy grassland with cattle
