Colourful Lacewing

Description:

A colorful lacewing from the Chrysopidae family. 25mm in length (antennae excluded). Head - light creamy yellow with a red "V" shape. Upper Thorax - whitish with a big red mark. Lower Thorax - light creamy yellow with segment edges black. Abdomen - same colours as the lower thorax except that the segment edges are cream colored while the middle part of the segments are black. Long black antennae, semi-transparent brown legs, transparent wings with light cream-colored wing veins.

Habitat:

Kundasang highlands, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

Quite a rare lacewing, this is the only spotting I have of this species. Identification is tough for this one, the closest ID I can get is the genus Italochrysa, possibly Italochrysa japonica or a new species. Similar spotting by NuwanChathuranga from Sri Lanka, this species is also seen in Singapore. >>>Map accuracy : 20m diameter.
