Don't worry, they don't sting. What looks like a stinger on the female is an Ovipositor.

Cannot believe I was that close to a wasp.
It looked like a wasp, but it was late at night and this one was around moths, and my paper wasps were sleeping (?) (I thought wasps were diurnal). So I thought it was something else.
