Description:

Also known as Atlantic Casmaria, C. ponderosa is normally a species of large sea snails in the Cassidae family (helmet snails and bonnet snails).

Habitat:

Occurs in the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and in the the Pacific Ocean. Found at depths of 18 to 55m.

Notes:

Spotted this snail's empty shell under a rock in about 20m of water at the dive site called Angel's Cove, Talikud Island, Philippines. It measured roughly 3.5cm long and about 1.75cm at its widest.
