Natural hybrids are not so common, this particular individual happens in abutterfly garden in Veraguas Rainforest project in Limon.

Hybrids are indeed common in captivity and the combination of Melpomene and Cydno are quite famous, also in breeding studies. I believe you, but I am still sceptic ;-)

It was new for me too ( about hybrids), the mix was confirm, and it is not so unusual in captivity

I agree with Heliconius melpomene and possibly a hybrid, but I am a little bit sceptic about Cydno galanthus, which is quite a common hybrid. I cannot see typical features of Cydno galanthus, specially on the ventral side. What about H. melpomene x H. melpomene??
