Three spot flounder

Samariscus triocellatus

Description:

This flounder was fairly large, close to two feet long. We swam over it twice before noticing the three distinct dots on its back looked just a tad different then the surrounding sand. I love how the eyes on this one look like they are flecked with stars.

Habitat:

Coral Reef. Sandy Bottom. Observed this one at Bethlehem.
