Spotting

Description:

This is some kind of locust or grasshopper. I saw a few of these in the meadow. Their noise is louder than other grasshoppers, they are fatter and slower. It was funny to spot them because if you saw one and approched it, it would get quiet, and then just let go and fall....as if they just died on the spot....All three that I spotted just let go and fell...not fly away.

They were pretty common in the meadow I found them in. If they were proportioned like regular grasshoppers, it would have been like 4 inches long with how fat it is.....this one was probably about 2" long.

Wow! Amazing find! Looks like a cartoon character. I'll be knocking about to try to figure out what it is, but I think it's gonna take someone who knows it by heart to identify it.

Anyone have suggestions on these fat green grasshopper/locust things that just fall off plants when they are spotted?
