Jewel Beetle -9

Castiarina flavopicta

Description:

This 8 mm long jewel beetle had metallic teal coloured head, thorax and elytra with bright yellow patterns on the elytra. Some of the yellow appeared a little faded and I thought that this was an abnormality until I saw similar colour change in Martin's spotting of similar beetles
http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/121...
Legs were the same teal colour and the femurs were thick.

Habitat:

Spotted on Box Thorn in a nature reserve

Notes:

My thanks to Martin Lagerway for the ID ad reference link.
The larvae live in wood while the adults feed on flowers.
Family : Buprestidae
