Procyon lotor
This adorable little raccoon took to a tree when he (or she) spotted me coming. The photographs were taken on 09 July 2012 at Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area in south Georgia, just to the east/northeast of Valdosta. Raccoon are extremely common in the American southeast, but also range through much of Central and North America. Members of Order Carnivora, they are clever, mischievous mammals and are adept at foraging for good eats left behind by people. Campers beware! These dudes are quite able to negotiate coolers and bags! heh. Janson Jones, http://dusttracks.com.

Wow wonderful shots :)
There's nothing much more adorable than a young raccoon. Even when they're stealing through your backpack, they're pretty irresistibly adorable!
Very adorable!
Thanks, y'all! This raccoon was much more comfortable, I think, than the one I photographed in south Florida, clinging to a tree above a bunch of alligators! Heh.
It is an adorable little raccoon indeed! Lovely picture jansonjones =)

Thanks, y'all -- and sorry for being absent and it replying. The Real World, it turns out, gets pretty dang busy sometimes! :)
