Description:

About as big around as a quarter. (quarter in picture). Large and green. Red blobs with black dots on front (in pairs). Further pairs down the back in yellow, getting smaller towards the back.

Habitat:

Near a trailer on an island in lake Ontario. Found on ground near a tree

Based on the time of year, its size, and the fact that you found it on the ground, I'd say it was done growing and was off to pupate. Did you leave it outdoors?
