Description:

Related to the Northern Cardinal but more of a desert bird. These birds mostly resemble female Northern Cardinals but have a longer pointed crest, a red mask on the face instead of black. The bill is more rounded almost like a parrot.

Habitat:

Can be found in the desert of the pine-oak woodlands of the southwest and Mexico.
