Gopher Tortoise

Description:

Two gopher tortoises, one adult and one juvenile. This species is located mostly in Georgia and Florida. It is a keystone species, meaning that their burrows provide homes for more than 350 other species of animals, and help to shape the whole ecosystem. Previously Endangered... currently listed as Vulnerable.

Habitat:

Honeymoon Island State Park Beach/Scrub habitat... slash pines, palms, cacti, and grasses are predominant plant species.

I've never seen two together like this. Wonderful :)
