Mantodea
They have triangular heads, slender bodies, and long legs. Their color enables them to blend in with the foliage. They have large eyes and seem to be aware of everything that is going on around them. This enables them to find unsuspecting insects. On their front legs are sharp spikes to help them catch and hold their prey. In the fall, the females will lay sticky egg cases on the branches of bushes, and the babies called nymphs will emerge in late spring.
Found through out many areas of the world.
Found this Mantis climbing up a plant that a small tree frog had decided to use as a perch. While the mantis was large enough to capture the frog it did not appear to have seen it.
