Baccharis halimifolia
Green shrub w/ white topped flowers in the fall. They produce an infinite number of seeds. They have been noted through history on the ethnobotanical writings for various uses.
These bushes seem to do best in areas where the soil is moist but not wet. That would be wetlands like marshes or swamps and close adjoining areas where the seed may have spread.

We also have these (masses of them) in my part of the world. They grow at the edge of the woods, along ditches, at the side of the road. In the spring, it's privet blooming everywhere ... in the fall, it's this plant. Everywhere! I've always called it a Groundsel bush, but I kind of like Saltbush, too.
