Green-striped grasshopper

Chortophaga viridifasciata

Description:

My best ID guess on this one is a green-striped grasshopper, although I can't conclude whether it's the southern or northern variety. I lean toward northern based on the markings, but then again...this is Mississippi, so that seems less likely.

Habitat:

I visited a friend's farm in Mississippi, and he said it was absolutely crawling with grasshoppers--this was no exaggeration!
