Blue Mountains Funnel Web Spider

Hadronyche versuta

Description:

Body Length 5cm - ID by ArgyBee

Notes:

My husband was moving dead tree trunks and did some landscaping when this big black spider appeared in front of the shovel and gave him a defensive pose. It's right leg was injured by the shovel but hubby released it back to the bush.

Thanks ArgyBee, yes, I think you are right. The pattern on the head is exactly the same as the one from www.dirjournal.com. Sydney or Victorian Funnel Web Spider has slightly different pattern.
