Rhagonycha fulva
This species of soldier beetle (Cantharidae) has a redish flat elongated body. The elytra is black at the tip, and the legs are orange and become darker at the end.Seen is a delicate balancing mating act on thin grass stems.
Alpine meadow, alt. 1400 m ASL. Common in Europe.
Note the size difference between male and female. Adults are often observed mating in this species. Did you know? "Rhagas" means split, and "onux", claw. Fulva refers to the colour.
