Description:

Family: Geometridae, Subfamily: Ennominae. A common Typical Geometer moth with flimsy, broad-wings typically resting with their wings flat. WS 43-57 mm) This one is probably the largest example. Peppery gray wings marked with bold blackish lines. Coloring is variable sometimes brownish/gold or even almost black. Hosts: Deciduous trees including poplar, sassafras and tulip tree.

Habitat:

Woodlands and meadow. Attracted to light
