Thank you Jemma and Kathleen. I remember when I first saw one in the south bay at Mission College. After built the college they couldn't build a track field because of the owls. They said there were 60 birds out there. It dropped to one pair. That is how bad it is here. They are well protected and they will try to stop any development to save their homes. This one is one of the lucky ones that uses marked sites just inside one fo the East bay regional parks. Returns every year. Some others make there homes in the same sites in Berkeley and Emeryville. But they mainly nest in the east counties.
