Bonnet Mushroom

Mycena sp.

Description:

Small mushroom growing on a piece of bark/wood. Color of pileus (cap) is deep pink to peach. Texture of pileus is slightly moist and smooth. Gills are a light peach to pink color. They are slightly decurrent with lamellulae and cross-veins present. Stipe is smooth and is a shiny pink shade. The mycena genus primarily contains small saprotrophic fungi.

Habitat:

Growing on bark/wood in a dense mixed hardwood/pine forest. Northwest Georgia. Nearby oaks.

Notes:

My closest ID for this is Mycena haematopus, however, I cannot confirm as I did not test for "bleeding" by breaking this specimen's stem.
