Appears to be a stunted acorn. Pollination and natural watering of acorn producing trees were both devastatingly low this year. Trees usually average around 30 pounds a year, but are only averaging around 1 pound this year. Many animals which rely on acorns to cache away or build up fat in preparation for winter will have a hard time this year...
