Congratulations CJWhitmill, your Blue-green Sharpshooter is our Spotting of the Day!
"This colorful Blue-green Sharpshooter (Graphocephala atropunctata) is our Spotting of the Day! Graphocephala is a large genus of leafhoppers (family Cicadellidae), found from southern Canada to northern South America. This small insect can be carrier of Pierce’s disease, a disease infecting grape vines and caused by the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa. Pierce's disease is prevalent within the USA from Florida to California, and outside the USA in Central and South America. It is less prevalent in more northern areas where winter temperatures are cold".
