Hairstreak Butterfly

Description:

Small Hairstreak with short tails and grey eyes. About 1.5 cm long. It has an orange patch on the hind wings just below the tails and brown stripes on the underwings. When it flew, I saw a flash of metallic blue from the upper wings. Family Lycaenidae.

Habitat:

Found along the highway on a cliff between San Cristobal and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 18.5, 1164 meters.
