Tibicen canicularis
I felt so bad for this guy. He was sitting on my driveway with a broken wing, and couldn't fly at all. When he flew, he only went in circles against the ground. I decided that he deserved to be more comfortable than sitting on the driveway, and I moved him to a bush using a stick. He gladly jumped right on the stick, and actually is still holding it as he sits on the bush. I made sure it wasn't too obvious, as I'm aware of the threat by birds. I feel so sad that I couldn't fix his wing though, he's one beautiful creature, and very, very cute. If anyone would have a suggestion to help him out with, he's still alive and sitting on my front bush. I'm pretty sure there's nothing I could do for him but make sure he's comfortable while he's around.
You are on the ne. periphery of the range for this species and it is quite common in adj. Lancaster.
Based on the series of images, I am quite certain this is not canicularis.
wonderful series, you might want to edit this spotting again to see if you can not reload the second photo.
