well I have one that looks similar which was identified as a verdin nest but now that I've looked up cactus wren nests I'm not sure if that id was right...I'm sure the one in the cactus must be from a cactus wren

I think it's very safe to say that it's a cactus wren nest. I don't recall if there is another bird that would build such an extravagant nest out west.

you could be right I have another one that looks almost exactly the same and it's in a cactus

I'm not a bird expert by any means, but this reminds me of a cactus wren nest.
