Snowy Egret

Description:

Beautiful small-sized white egret. Size is much smaller than Great Egret & Great White Heron. Feet are yellow & has yellow facemask. Bill & Legs are black, which distinguishes it from Cattle Egret. Also, Cattle Egret in breeding plumage shows brown on head and back.

Habitat:

Marshy areas where it hunts to stalking prey in shallow water and using its extendable neck to strike with extreme speed.

Notes:

Caught this Snowy Egret stalking minnows in a tidal marsh at First Landing State Park. These photos were taken with a Canon EF100-400 f/4-f/5.6 lens mounted on a Canon Rebel T2i.
