Egretta thula
Beautiful small-sized white egret. Size is much smaller than Great Egret & Great White Heron. Feet are yellow & has yellow facemask. Bill & Legs are black, which distinguishes it from Cattle Egret. Also, Cattle Egret in breeding plumage shows brown on head and back.
Marshy areas where it hunts to stalking prey in shallow water and using its extendable neck to strike with extreme speed.
Caught this Snowy Egret stalking minnows in a tidal marsh at First Landing State Park. These photos were taken with a Canon EF100-400 f/4-f/5.6 lens mounted on a Canon Rebel T2i.
