Blue-headed Yellow Wagtail

Motacilla flava flava

Description:

Blue-grey head with white supercilium and yellow throat distinguish the male of this sub-species.

Habitat:

Agricultural fields by coastal marshes

Notes:

These were part of a mixed flock of various Yellow Wagtail sub-species passing through on migration. The sub-species have different and variable head patterns and while the males are relatively easy to ID the females can be somewhat more difficult.
