Celastrina neglecta

Description:

The Summer Azure is a very tiny butterfly, with a wing span usually around 1". The azure caterpillars eat the flowers instead of the leaves of the host plant.

Habitat:

Southern Canada - most of the eastern and central U.S.. Various habitats including stream valleys, powerline right-of-ways, gardens. Flight: June - October. Host Plants: Racemose dogwood, New Jersey Tea, and other plants.

Notes:

Observed on raspberry bush.
