Common Sydney Octopus

Octopus tetricus

Description:

This particular specimen was found in a tidepool. It was young, and only about 20 cm across the mantle and 30 from tentacle to mantle. A deep brick red mixed with a brown and some yellow markings.

Habitat:

A tidepool in Collaroy, NSW, Australia

Notes:

My sister and I found this one and went out looking for food for him. We found a large dead crab and he quickly ate the crab as we watched in awe.
