Halysidota tessellaris
Not one of the true tussocks, yet a tiger moth, Halysidota tessellaris, commonly feeds on birch in late summer. I somehow can't locate the better pictures I took. I will look more later on.
Found at the Audubon Nature Center in Falmouth, Maine.
