Antlion sp.

Myrmeleontidae

Description:

This is an adult antlion, family Myrmeleontidae. The antlion larvae are commonly seen, they form pits in sandy areas, waiting at the bottom. When an ant walks into the pit, he falls down to the center where the carnivorous antlion feeds on him. I am not sure what species this is.

Habitat:

came to lights in a suburban neighborhood
