Dungeness Crab

Metacarcinus magister

Description:

Species of crab that inhabits eelgrass beds and water bottoms on the west coast of North America. Typically grows to 7.9 in across and is a popular seafood. Its common name comes from the port of Dungeness, Washington.

Notes:

The large one was 2 pounds... the little one is the smallest crab I've ever seen. It was smaller than a dime, about size of a shirt button! We carefully took pics and made sure it made it back into the water safely!
