Physignathus lesueurii
A large dragon with powerful limbs that will take to the water if disturbed. Traveling fast enough to walk on water for short distances. The sole member of the genus found in Australia (another is found in South-East Asia). Males can be brightly colored in breeding season.
Found near margins of waterways in Eastern Australia (from Northern Queensland down to Victoria).
Found this juvenile dragon on a rock in the river. It was a very cold day and he wasnt moving around much.

Really really interesting!
Yeah Mark they are normally very quick and a pain but thankfully it was fairly cold out and he did not want to move
wow,,
What a cute little baby dragon. Hardly lives up to it's fierce big name.
Awsome! Would you please consider adding this to the Central QLD Wildlife Mission. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/9850...
Love these. They are very fast for short distances.
They are mostly out year round Lisa but during the coldest time of year they will go hide somewhere until it warms up again. I was surprised to see such a little one out that day (it was freezing).
Are they active year round there?
Thanks, added some info
gorgeous spotting! :)
gorgeous
Oh what a little cutie. How about including some information about this little one to help educate us?
