Australian Pelican

Pelecanus conspicillatus

Description:

large white member of the pelican family. This was a wild individual preening himself in the early morning sunshine among the ducks and seagulls

Habitat:

Elder Park, Adelaide

Notes:

As usual, my first morning in a new place, I'm awake too early. No one wanted to walk with me, so I took off for the park I noted on the map. That evening and the next morning, my husband accompanied me, but there was no pelican to be found. The different backgrounds are due to my moving up and down the river
