Description:

Quite a common beauty in the North, the White Admiral, Limenitis arthemis arthemis, is scientifically not a subspecies. The three different butterflies are considered "forms" of the species Limenitis arthemis. Characterized by white markings in the same pattern as the unrelated Red Admiral,

Habitat:

Larvae feed on Cherry, Willow, Birch, and various shrubs. Adults will take moisture from mud puddles, rotten fruit and animal feces.
