Ichneumonid Wasp

Nonnus sp.

Description:

A delicate black female wasp, about 1.5cm in length. She has smokey dark wings, white bands on the antennae about midway, and a white spot on the end of the abdomen above the ovipositor (pictures 4 & 5). The end of the ovipositor is white, as well as several segments of the 3rd pair of tarsi. Family Ichneumonidae.

Habitat:

Found resting on a leaf at night, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
