Orthetrum cancellatum
Body size approx 5 cm, and a wingspan some 8 cm. Male has bright blue upper abdomen with a typically black tip. Thee abdomen is relatively broad and flattened. Wings are clear with a black patch (pterostigma).
Found in waterside shrubs and grasses; in an area counting a number of small lakes; slopes of Jura Mountain range, mixed but predominantly coniferous forest, alpine environment.
