Vaccinium uliginosum
This plant has survived in an area where it occasionally gets stepped on and has stayed a small groundcover plant rather than the bush they normally become. You can tell when a blueberry is ripe if the back of the berry at the base of the stem is really blue and not red at all, such as the one shown here. These were not packed with flavor, but still ripe and mildly sweet.
Near a small stream in a grassy field far from town. This area gets a small amount of foot traffic but on a fairly regular basis.
