Dingo

Canis dingo

Description:

Originally brought to Australia by the first people, the aboriginies, the dingo is credited with helping them survive in the harsh landscape. Dingoes as village dogs helped with the hunt, and as protectors. Were given skin names(clan names, a way for the people to prevent inbreeding in close communities) and attended ceremonies. The current wild dingo is a feral dog that has been shaped through natural evolution. As a village dog, they are tame, but not trained or domestic. They are primarily yellow, but can also be black or black and tan

Habitat:

lounging in its enclosure at desert museum
