Papilio dardanus (Female form = hippocoon)
Papilio dardanus (the African Swallowtail, Mocker Swallowtail or Flying Handkerchief), is a species of butterfly in the family Papilionidae (the Swallowtails). The species is broadly distributed throughout sub-Saharan Africa. The British entomologist E. B. Poulton described it as "the most interesting butterfly in the world".
This series of butterflies were spotted in a Butterfly Pavilion in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Hey, this is great! The mocker swallowtail male is below. The female (always on top) is dimorphic and without tails at all. She is an accurate mimic of the distasteful friar butterfly (Amauris naivius) http://www.flickr.com/photos/fantastrid/...
