Tried to fill with a lot of stuff me either (glues,silicon,cotton...), but this is the only solution i've found!with the small spiders of my region(Zoropsis is one of the biggest) it took just few hours, max a day, to desiccate the abdomen in the right shape. it will took a lot of weeks for the leg's joints to dry. when you have the results, send me a pictures! goodluck

Interesting, I asked around in my local Natural History museum, they fill the abdomen with stuffing. It's as complicated as it sounds and also requires the removal of internal organs. But frankly, that's not working out so well either. I'll see if I can aquire such an air pump and try your method.

It's not so simple. I tried using chemicals, glues, but nothing worked. It seemed that the air pressure from the outside smashes the abdomen, so i decided to put pressure from the inside. I use a small air pump for aquarium, it works perfectly as you can see, but it's a little bit hard to understand how to use it. Some spider (or beetles) just exploded in front of me. You need a little bit of experience for good results.

that is expertly pinned, how did you prevent the abdomen from shrinking?
