Allen's Hummingbird

Selasphorus sasin

Description:

Similar to the Rufous species. If the bird was all copper on the back and a notch on the tail feather, it would be a Rufous. But Rufous can also have some green on the back like the Allen's so mostly the tail is how you can tell the difference. In this area the Rufous migrates through the area and the Allen's would breed.

Habitat:

I noticed most are near water but they can be found in open woodlands
