Added an ID to this spotting. Feel pretty solid at the genus level, species ID fits for several reasons ... but more input is welcome.

Another good suggestion, thanks. Appearances in photos online can vary quite a bit, but maybe Meadow spikemoss, Selaginella apoda. Or something along those lines. Common plant, right habitat and geographical range. I added a couple of links to the reference section. What do you think?

hmmm Looks a bit too "developed" to be bryophyte. I'm thinking this is a lycophyte (clubmoss, spikemoss)
