Gray Hairstreak

Description:

Gray on ventral side of wings with jagged orange, black, and white bands. Large orange eyespot on bottom of lower wings with tails. Dorsal side is bluish in color with orange eyespot showing through.

Habitat:

Area is a gated man-made lake community, surrounded by rural agricultural land, and some deciduous forest areas. In areas that are not mowed, the land is old fields within the community, and are mowed biannually. Ditchlines and treelines are left untouched.

Seemed pretty content for several hours to nectar on Russian Sage (Perovskia atriplicifolia)
