Small-medium sized finch. Males have a red face and breast (sometimes yellow) while females retain the brown color throughout. Streaks down breast.

Habitat:

Spotted at Agua Amarga Reserve(great place to go birding) in the South Bay of L.A. Common introduced species, spotted everywhere in the lower 48.

Notes:

Was not exactly sure about this chap because of his size, but thanks to RobBielawski, he was positively ID'd as a house finch.
