Description:

This Juvenile black-crowned night heron resides at the Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Homosassa, Florida. The juvenile looks completely different from the adult. It is stocky and short-necked. Heavy, dagger-like bill. The juvenile is streaked brown below with white spots on wings.
