Tirumala septentrionis
The Dark Blue Tiger (Tirumala septentrionis) is a Danaid butterfly found in South and Southeast Asia.
This series of butterflies were spotted in a Butterfly Pavilion in Denver, Colorado, USA.
@SrinivasanVenkatesan, seems to be quite a discussion on the ID of this butterfly! There are a coule of good links on IDing the different Blue tigers you may be interested in...
yes Ashish, I know what that's like! Very frustrating... Hope they have the broadband working better when I get back to Tiru in November...
Welcome Pam... Still one more month have towait for new Broadband connection... Currently use very poor service...
thanks Ashish...
Have been missing the comments from my Indian friends lately, so it's nice to see you back again IDing an Asian spotting. Different butterflies in Europe!
Thanks Ashish. Oh dear! Now I have three different ID's for this butterfly. What to do!? Seems like I have an excuse to be confused, if the experts give different ID's!!
thanks for the ID SrinivasanVenkatesan. I find it hard to differentiate between the Blue Tigers... I think this spotting might be one of the other ones as it doesn't have the V markings on it...
