Xylocopa tabaniformis orpifex
A carpenter bee with blue eyes and light yellow hair on top of thorax. Abdomen is black with very little hair.
Spotted on a rubber rabbitbush near the Umtanum creek. The range of this bee has expanded to Washington thanks in part to expanding home building by humans.
