Cylindrical Leaf Beetle

Ditropidus concolor

Description:

A small 3 mm long beetle with metallic sheen on a robust and nearly cylindrical body and a well-rounded thorax. Elytra showed fine puncturations. Head was deflexed. Scutellum was seen as a small triangle. Distal antennal segments appeared darker. The tarsi had bilobed white pads as seen on most leaf beetles.

Habitat:

Spotted on a young eucalyptus tree in a reserve.

Martin, I would have stopped with the genus as I was a little concerned seeing the numbers around. But, I checked a few reliable sources and they've come up with the same specific name. I will keep my eye on it though and please, if you come across anything that fits better, let me know. Thanks.

An impressive list Leuba and a long way to go to see them all. I never tried to get past genus level for these tiny thiongs. Castiarina has over 325 species which is the longest list I know.
