Callocephalon fimbriatum
The Gang-Gang Cockatoo is a dark grey cockatoo. It has prominent crest. The male has a red head and grey body. The female has grey head and body. Immature birds look like the hen except for some red in the head feathers in young males
Spotted in this berry tree right near the bay.
Spotted this guy a while back whilst I was in Batemans Bay for a day.

Superb picture. These guys are very entertaining to watch.
WOW, beautiful!!
Thank you Cindy!
Lori I was just lucky to see this gem. I was working in batemans bay for the day NSW, and just happened to park next to this tree/bush and saw this beauty sitting there eating lunch! Have not seen one of these since. But what a beautiful bird! I am getting addicted seeing species of birds as they are all just so unique and sometimes you may never see them again!
I'm still hoping to see one of these outside a wildlife park. Supposedly there are some in northern Tasmania, but I haven't seen any yet. Looks like it's feeding on an introduced plant species. Maybe we shouldn't be culling all our pittosporum and cotoneaster (actually we should, they are noxious weeds spreading into the bush when their seeds are eaten and excreted by birds).
Beauty!
Thank you Sachin!
Got it! Thank you Sean :)
Spectacular,,
Yeh I still cant find you Sean :(
Leanne I replied to your email :)

I'm so happy you got a shot of him then. I would really love to see one of these :) Congrats!
Thanks Leanne! I was amazed when I spotted him too, just eating these berries making the odd noise. He was on his own obviously enjoying the berries. I have not see one of these birds since! :(
Oh my goodness! That is the most gorgeous Aussie bird. Fantastic spot Sean!
